Microwave Repair in Naples, FL
A countertop microwave that dies is easy enough to replace. But a built-in microwave, an over-the-range unit, or a microwave drawer is a different story — replacement is expensive and involves cabinetry or venting. That is where repair makes sense. We fix microwaves that are not heating, sparking inside the cavity, have dead displays, turntables that do not spin, and door latch issues. We service all major brands and specialize in built-in and over-the-range models.
Microwave Not Heating
A microwave that runs — the turntable spins, the light comes on, the timer counts down — but does not heat food has a magnetron, diode, or capacitor failure. The magnetron is the component that generates microwaves. When it fails, the microwave does everything except actually heat. The high-voltage diode and capacitor supply the magnetron with the voltage it needs; a failure in either one also results in no heating.
These are high-voltage components and should only be serviced by a technician. We test the magnetron, diode, and capacitor safely and replace the failed component. On many built-in and over-the-range models, a magnetron replacement is cost-effective compared to replacing the entire unit plus installation.
Sparking, Turntable, and Door Issues
Sparking inside the microwave cavity is often caused by a damaged waveguide cover (the small panel inside the cavity that covers the magnetron opening). Food splatter can burn through it, causing arcing. Replacing the waveguide cover is a simple fix. Metal left inside the cavity or a chipped interior coating can also cause sparking.
A turntable that does not spin may have a failed turntable motor, a broken coupler, or a worn roller ring. The motor is the most common failure and is a straightforward replacement.
Door latch issues prevent the microwave from starting — the door interlock switches are a safety feature that cuts power unless the door is fully latched. A broken latch, a misaligned door, or a failed interlock switch can all cause this. We replace door latches and switches for all brands.
